Ms Lua Ai Siew has been a partner at Messrs Soo Thien Ming & Nashrah since 1998. She graduated with a Bachelor of Laws degree with honours (second class upper division) from the University of Malaya in 1990. She read in chambers at the Firm and was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court in Malaya on 22 March 1991. She later pursued her postgraduate studies at the prestigious National University of Singapore, graduating with a Master of Laws degree in August 1993. Ms Lua has been in practice for over 34 years.

Ms Lua has extensive experience in banking (civil and foreclosure proceedings), land disputes, family and administration of estates, negligence including solicitors’ negligence, insolvency, corporate and shareholders’ disputes, building and construction contracts, intellectual property, commercial and civil litigation, with many of her cases reported in the Malayan Law Journal and Current Law Journal. She is a Notary Public, a Commissioner for Oaths, and a registered Trademark Agent with the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO).

During her first ten years of practice, Ms Lua also handled conveyancing matters such as sale and purchase agreements for immovable properties, loan documentation, joint venture agreements, shareholders’ agreements, wills, trust deeds and powers of attorney.

Ms Lua has represented clients at all levels of the Malaysian courts, including the apex court, the Federal Court. Many of the cases she won or successfully resolved have been reported in various law journals. She has delivered lectures on civil procedure and insolvency laws at Institut Latihan Kehakiman dan Perundangan (ILKAP), training centres of several banks, and the KL Bar Committee. She has served as Chairperson and as the second member of the Advocates & Solicitors Disciplinary Committee since 2007. In 2025, Ms Lua was appointed as a member of the Advocates & Solicitors Disciplinary Board. She assisted the late Datuk Seri Gopal Sri Ram when he was the Firm’s consultant in 2010 to 2014.
